That’s right, the classic pack that came to life way back in the tail end of 2014 is getting a new entry nearly 10 years later. How did this iteration start? It started with a completely random session of LMS that gave everyone the itch to do something again for the game mode. So far we’ve rounded up a lot of the original team and our aim is to just make fun, solid and nice looking layouts. Part 4 will be featuring the Freon additions to Eonweapons and will definitely shake up things a bit from a gameplay perspective. There’s no set goal for map count due to everyone just wanting to contribute as much as they feel they can. This project is a joint effort between Ru5ty Sh4ck and the Mechanix Union. After a long period of waiting, the overdue Beta 3 has been released for public consumption. This release addresses issues with existing maps’ balance and introduces 3 new maps with one of them being a guest submission from Rivi. Balance changes to EonWeapons have also been made to better flesh out the new weapons. The project has come to the point where there will be more frequent silent beta releases that’ll mainly be composed of small fixes and changes. It’s not certain if there will be many more maps added to the pack, but as long as there is time before release, there will be a chance for submissions to come in. After a bit of slumber, Beta 2 of the pack has been released. This beta features a few new maps and a outside submission from a guest mapper: Major Arlene. Although beta releases haven’t been as vast as the past, a longer development time on maps before submission ensures a higher standard of quality when it comes to map design. I present a combined effort between Mechanix Union and Ru5ty Sh4ck Productions called the Eon Collection. This first volume combines all previous DM projects, DBAB, Aeon and Neon, into one definitive package that includes updates and improvements. The most important improvement is the vanilla weapon support via skill selection in DBAB which allows the pack to be ran with other weapon mods that replace vanilla weapons thus increasing its exposure to other crowds in the FFA world. There are plans for a second volume featuring other works in the future as well as built in support for other game modes.
